In 1985, Rotary International launched the PolioPlus program to protect children worldwide from the cruel and fatal consequences of polio. In 1988 the World Health Organization challenged the world to eradicate polio. Since that time, Rotarians and their partner organizations have achieved a 99% reduction in the number of polio cases worldwide. We stand at the brink of a great victory. For the current fiscal year (2006-2007), The Rotary Club of Columbia is pleased to annouce that we have raised an additional $1,200 for PolioPlus. We met our goal of $16,000 several years ago. ![]() Darcy Wells participated in a Polio National Immunization Day (NID) in India in January 2006.
