  • Our District Conference starts tomorrow in Rolla.  Six members from our Club will be attending. Tim Donovan will post biographies and photos of members who passed away this Rotary year on a Memory Board in the House of Friendship.  There will also be a Memorial Service.

  • Jim Elliot generously donated an electronic toothbrush on behalf of our Club to be given as a door prize or as a silent auction item.  Thank you, Jim.

  • The Columbia Rotaract Club will hold a membership drive tonight.  Please see Darcy or Justin Roberts for additional information.
  • "The Columbia Rotary Redneck Triathlon & BBQ," event will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, at Cody's Bar & Grill, 2508 Paris Rd. Attendees will be able to enjoy a savory BBQ dinner and cheer on our clubs "athletes" as they compete against the other clubs in the 2006 "Redneck Games." The double-elimination, spectator-friendly events comprising the Redneck Games are: 1) Billiards, 2) Darts, and 3) Washer-Pitch. We're looking for club members with expertise in these games -- or at least a lack of embarrassment about playing them in front of a crowd. Volunteers are asked to contact Bob Buckley at 443-3134 or bbuckley@owwlaw.com

Paige Scott introduced Club President Darcy Wells to talk about her recent trip to India to help with a Polio NID (National Immunization Day).

President Darcy Wells spent two weeks in India in January with a group of Rotarians from around the US and Canada to take part in Rotary’s National Immunization Day.  She shared her experience through a vibrant photo travelogue.  She painted a picture of India with compelling photos of extreme poverty, spectacular scenery, legendary architecture and beautiful children.

As part of the National Immunization Day, Darcy administered oral polio vaccine to children in areas where polio still rages.  For more about National Immunization Days and how you can help support polio eradication, visit the Rotary International site at http://www.rotary.org/foundation/polioplus/participate/nids.html.
