Eric Evans introduced our speaker, Steve Paulsell, who talked about Missouri Task Force 1 and its recent deployments to the U.S. Gulf Coast.

Missouri Task Force 1 was on the ground in the U.S. Gulf Coast even before Hurricane Katarina blasted ashore.  They arrived in New Orleans on Monday night following the storm hitting, bringing with them everything they would need to be self-sufficient.  The team went to work rescuing people from roof tops and attics. On Day 2 of the operation, it was estimated that they were rescuing 100-110 people per hour per boat.

For information about volunteering for the Force and to read articles about their experience, check out the website at: http://www.bcfdmo.com/missouri_tf1/index.asp.

Missouri Task Force 1 returned home at 2:00 p.m. to the Boone County Fire Protection District Fire Headquarters on October  to a number of family and friends. This was their second deployment to the greater New Orleans area in a month.
