Melvin Platt introduced our speaker,  Kathy Weiss, a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar.

Kathy has many accomplishments, including:

-Former Cultural Ambassadorial Scholar 2004-2005
-Lived and studied in Merida, Venezuela (Aug 2004-May 2005)
-Primarily studied Spanish and Spanish literature, but also took a few
medical classes
-Native Missourian (graduated from Helias HS, Bachelor of Science from
MU)
-Current 4th Year Medical Student at MU

She spoke about Venezuelan geography, politics, food, religion,
traditions and daily life. She enjoyed participating in a variety of
Rotary functions while abroad (100 year anniversary, District
conference, local meetings, service projects, and meeting other
scholars).

While in Venezuela she was able to reach her goals of learning more
about the language and culture so she can apply that to her future
medical practice. And she is now able to dream in Spanish. She Thanks
the Rotary Club for the opportunity of going abroad and knows that this
will impact her future and many other lives through her medical
practices.
