EXCHANGE STUDENT REPORT:  The e-mail below was sent to our member Paige Scott updating us on her current visit to Switzerland.

Hey Paige-

I figured it was about time to be sending an email. I hope things are
going well for you. I've been here for two months now (wow). It has been going
by faster than you could imagine. Also, its amazing how much of english you
can be forgetting in just two months! ...something i'm sure you will
understand from reading this email :) Right now I'm on a 2 week vacation (3 if
counting the week I spent in southern switzerland with my class). It's really
nice to be on vacation but it also is bad in a way because you don't see every
body. People really use this time to go on vacations and such. I went to Bale
(the 2nd largest city in switzerland) and also hiking in the alps (yeah...so
weird to say) and this week i might go to Geneva with a friend, we'll
have to see how that is going to be working out. I feel like my french has
been improving much more, i think when people start making fun of you it's a
sign that you've improved enough that they dont worry it will hurt feelings!
mostly, kids at school think it funny when i say stuff that could be
considered slang, but i guess i would be laughing to if i heard exchange
student using slang too. I'm still with the same host family, I change in
january before school starts after christmas break. That's no problem, I
really like this family I feel like I'm part of the family when I'm with
them. They are so normal its almost weird. Also, for a week during
Christmas vacances I will be going with them to Cannes (its a city on French
Riviera) because they have an appartement there. I'm really excited lol. But
affter two months things have deifinitely improved. I actually know where I'm
going when I get into a car (before i would only understand that i was going
SOMEwhere), only does it sounds like chinese when i hear the
swiss-german! I havent gotten lost in weeks and i'm not constantly asking people whats
going on. :) its kind of incredible how quick exchange students are forced to
figure things out and adapt. I'll attach some pictures to be sent with
this email.

have a great day, week, etc!

-nikki
