Cecil Moore presented Paul Harris Fellowhips to Darcy Wells, who is now a PH+1 member, and to Dee Corn whose donation to Rotary's permanent fund makes her a Benefactor.



ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Ann Gowans & R.D. Ross presented flags from Clubs they had visited recently.
  • Do not forget to purchase your tickets to the Stephens College presentation of "A Christmas Carol" which is one of our major fundraisers for the year. We have 330 tickets to sell. The event takes place on December 1, 2005 - reception at 6:30 p.m., with the performance starting at 7:30 p.m.  Contact David Clithero, Jim Ollar or David Atkins to purchase tickets.

Our speaker today was introduced by Cindy Sheltmire.

Ed Mattson, a member of the Mishawaka, IN Rotary Club and the Rotary Speaker's Bureau, presented a program titled "Rotary on an International Level." He is a Medical Project Specialist and Country Consultant for Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and Romania for Rotary's "Hand Across the Sea Program."

Ed also spoke about the "Wings of Hope Cancer Foundation", named in memory of his wife Linda, who died following a long battle with many forms of cancer.

In addition to providing unconventional help to children with cancer, the Foundation is involved with many other areas including:

- Providing transportation to patients (pilots are Rotary members)
- Under-developed countries hospital relief program
- Cancer Research Information Library
- Private & Donor Cord Blood Banking Information

Winds of Hope is a 501c3 corporation which is partly funded by donations and small grants from Rotary Clubs.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:   We are still looking for volunteers who would like to take notes at the meeting for this weekly newsletter publication - no more than 4-5 times a year (preferably one full month).
